The story begins here
As Winter covers Prehistoria in its cold embrace, there is a tension in the air that makes even the most battle-hardened wary of what is to come. Clouds were gathering thick and fast, making the early morning feel sluggish and the reason wasn’t lost to anyone. Dettlaff and Assur had butted heads. And this time, it wouldn’t end amicably.
Dettlaff sent word out far and wide for Beasts to journey to the Standing Stones in preparation; anyone who was willing to test their mettle against him and his chosen companions were welcome to join. And those that didn’t were allowed to come and watch and cheer on the warriors.
And at the Warrior Stones, a more harrowing call was being sent out. Assur’s followers and devoted fighters were flocking to her and the Stones seeking power and influence. A chance to finally prove themselves to none other than the Goddess of War and Fury.
This will not be an easy fight on both sides, it will take the strongest of wills to best these challenges. Can your Beast meet the standard?
Start Quest
Your Beast has heard the call; like rolling thunder in the sky that made their ears ring and their chest tighten with the desire to answer it. Rain or shine, your Beast travels from their home towards one of the Stones where the call is coming from.
Does your Beast answer the call of Dettlaff who wants to prove his warriors are hardy and capable of withstanding even the toughest of Winters? Or do they answer to Assur who demands perfection and strength above all else.
Depict your Beast arriving at the Standing Stones or at the Warrior Stones and greeting the leader, or illustrate your beast’s journey there. Remember, Dettlaff is at the Standing Stones – Assur is as the Warrior Stones.
Path 1 – Quest 1
Dettlaff approaches your beast with pride in his eyes. He raises his head and says, “Your first challenge is to test your wisdom against practice. Because a warrior is not born, they are made. As is their experience in a fight.”
When Dettlaff steps to the side it comes as a surprise to see Kala herself standing before you with a knowing grin.
“Don’t hold back on my account; I have years under my claws. A youngster like you will have much to learn.”
Depict your beast dueling Kala, win or lose, or illustrate this part of the quest.
Path 1 – Quest 2
After your Beast’s duel with Kala is over you are given time to rest; to eat and drink and let your adrenaline settle before you are introduced to yet another surprising challenge.
Coming down from the mountains to help their beloved Guardian, The Tamasun Tribe has brought two of their best to challenge your Beast. Rio the Terror Bird and Grésil the Mammoth.
Depict your beast as they duel both Rio and Grésil at the same time, win or lose, or illustrate this part of the story.
Path 1 – Quest 3
Once more your Beast is allowed to rest before their next fight, giving them the time needed to have their wounds tended to.
Dettlaff approaches your Beast once more and congratulates them on their fights. Your Beast expects Dettlaff to call forth another to challenge them… But he instead moves to the duel ring.
“I am your next challenge,” he declares with a grin.
Depict your beast as they duel Dettlaff, win or lose, or illustrate this part of the story.
Path 2 – Quest 1
After a grand speech about being the best warriors under her wing, Assur calls forth your Beast and has you name yourself to the audience. Then, she declares who is to challenge you.
Her personal Guardian; the Rooster. A small chicken comes to mind and your Beast can’t help but chuckle at the ludocracy of such a battle – a one that would end quickly.
That is, until the Rooster Guardian steps forward – the size of a Mammoth and with curled spurs gleaming with intent to maim.
Depict your beast battling the Rooster Guardian, win or lose, or illustrate this part of the Quest. Remember, the Guardian can look like anything (even a peacock-coloured chicken) but the size must be large at this point.
Path 2 – Quest 2
The fight with the Guardian is harrowing, maybe even a little bloody, but there is no time for your Beast to catch their breath as Assur calls forth their next challenge.
“I can fondly remember Magnar when they were at their peak. Strong, cruel, witty. Now nothing more than a kitten at the paws of Arwii – a disgrace! Prove to me you are more than capable of the once great Magnar before his demise!”
Depict your beast as they battle the Memory of Magnar – a shadow of what he once was before he was saved, or illustrate this part of the story.
Path 2 – Quest 3
With the Memory of Magnar vanquished, the spirit dissipates and Assur raises her head with pride and satisfaction.
“A warrior must be willing to kill if they are to prove their strength. A moment’s weakness could cost you everything; hesitation will not be tolerated or accepted.”
Another shadow steps forward and tension rises as your Beast recognises who stands before them; a mockery of R’ad. Tainted and twisted into a Spirit of Betrayal and Rage.
“Prove yourself. Kill them.” Assur hisses.
Depict your beast as they battle Ra’d the Spirit of Betrayal and Rage and beating them, or illustrate this part of the story.
The Seasonal Ends Here
After a whole day of fighting, your Beast finally can rest and watch as the crowds disperse and the fighters return home. There is still a lingering tension in the air that makes your Beast feel uncomfortable but at least it isn’t so thick that it can be cut. But there is a lingering doubt that this wasn’t just an impromptu event. Something is stirring…
But, right now, it isn’t occurring. Go home and rest, tomorrow is another day, after all.
