The story begins here

It’s a disaster. Enlil is furious, Ceryn is trying to calm him down but his anger cannot be quenched. Thorns and brambles had been seen growing around his forest and he is making it known that no one is allowed in or out his forest.
When Ceryn has a moment to speak with you, he lets you know what has upset Enlil so much…
“Squirrels,” he says, rather embarrassed to even tell you this, “Enlil believes they are taunting him and he has…Declared war on them.”

Start Quest

Ceryn informs you, if you didn’t already know, that squirrels stockpile their nuts and seeds when they hibernate for the Winter. And they aren’t the best at remembering where they hid their stashes. Which has, unfortunately, led to new trees growing both in and out of Enlil’s forest─ and that is precisely why Enlil is so upset.
On behalf of Enlil, Ceryn implores you to help. Either the stashed nuts must be found and destroyed…Or the squirrels must be found and…Maybe not destroyed, but dealt with. Please.

Depict you and your beast standing outside of Enlil’s forest, either talking to Enlil or hearing what Ceryn has to say about the ordeal. It is protected by thorny bushes and brambles thanks to Enlil’s temper tantrum.

Path 1 – Quest 1

Ceryn, unfortunately, cannot help you in your search for where the stashes might be – or else he might have dealt with it himself for Enlil.
But, he does tell you where he often sees squirrels. Perhaps you might find some clues there?

Depict you and your beast looking outside of Enlil’s Heart for signs of the squirrels Ceryn told you about, or show them looking in other places that might have better results.

Path 1 – Quest 2

You follow what small clues Ceryn was able to offer you, meandering through the parts of the forest you are allowed to venture when something catches your eye… A strange mound beneath a tree.
As you get close to the mound you become suspicious. But just before you can confirm those suspicions something high up in the tree starts to bark at you. Whatever it is, it doesn’t sound happy that you’re there.

Depict you and your Beast examining the mound or peering into the trees to have a stare down with a weird-looking squirrel barking at you, or illustrate this part of the Quest.

Path 1 – Quest 3

After your stand off with the squirrel it decides it isn’t worth to hang around and argue; a flick of tail from the disgruntled squirrel and it disappeared in the branches.
Now that the squirrel is gone, you are able to approach the mound. As you suspected, the mount is a stockpile of nuts and seeds. Now, to get rid of them.

Depict you and your beast either digging at the mound to find the nuts and seeds or pulling them out, or show them destroying them (or just taking them for themselves), or illustrate this part of the Quest.

Path 2 – Quest 1

Agreeing to help with Enlil’s squirrel problem, the barbs blocking your way retreat to let you inside the forest.
‘Make it quick,’ Enlil harrumphed, and the way out is once more blocked. He tells you in very few words where he had last seen those pesky rodents and begs you to get rid of them quickly.

Depict you and your beast entering the forest with the permission of Enlil, or showing them looking for the squirrels in Enlil’s Heart.

Path 2 – Quest 2

Not wanting to disappoint Enlil, or face his wrath at failing to deal with his issue, you search the forest looking for clues to the whereabouts of these devious squirrels.
With a strange freedom to go wherever you want in the forest, it doesn’t take long for you to see something in the distance. A flick of a tail, a scattering of leaves – the rustling of branches.
They are near.

Depict you and your Beast exploring the wondrous forest of Enlil’s Heart where nothing that grows here is ‘normal’ in your search for the squirrels ruining Enlil’s life, or show them finding tracks or signs that the squirrels are nearby, or illustrate this part of the Quest.

Path 2 – Quest 3

Wasting no time, you and your Beast follow the tracks and rustlings until you have your quarry cornered by brambles and thorns and… Is that an auroch plant
With the squirrels now apprehended, you now have to decide what to do with these pesky vermin. Chase them away from the forest and let them live or ‘deal with them’ as Enlil asked?

Depict you and your beast chasing down the squirrels or trapping them somewhere in Enlil’s Heart, or show how they deal with the squirrels, or illustrate this part of the Quest.

Epilogue:

Which ever route you took to help Enlil with his problems, you return to him and Ceryn with good news either way; the stashes have been found and deal with, the squirrels also dealt with.
Enlil beams with pride, his dour mood subsiding to happiness and he looks down at Ceryn with a gleam in his eye. “See? Nothing to worry about, I knew they would help.” He said, and ignoring the way Ceryn stared at him bewildered, the large Megaloceros God looks down to you and your beast.
“You have done me a grand service; a more nobler deed than perhaps any other quest you have done in your tiny lifespan. Take your reward and go; I must tend to more important matters.”
And as Enlil struts back to his forest that greets him with open branches, Ceryn bows his head to you. “He means ‘thank you’. And I thank you, too.”
