The story begins here
The seasons have changed quickly once again; the sun-kissed trees have shed their crowns of gold, and the gentle breeze is turning cold as it heralds the dawning of Winter. The world seems more lively than in other seasons at this time of year, as beast and man alike are hurrying to prepare for the first fall of snow.
But in the midst of preparing for Winter, two unlikely figures start handing out invitations for a celebration. A… Spectral Spectacle, if you would. But while you recognise the grinning Sun God, Hasswei, it’s the twisting and ugly ghost beside him that gives you reason to pause.

Start Quest
The discomfort you get from the ghost is evident in you and your beast as you shuffle and avoid staring too long. Does Hasswei know that it is beside him?
“You won’t recognise them,” Hasswei suddenly tells you, and when he turns to look at the spectre at his side you find some comfort knowing you aren’t the only one who sees it, “But this is Bhindi… It breaks my heart to see her in such a state, but when she came to me with this idea– Well, how could I say no?”

Depict you and your beast speaking with Hasswei and the ghost of Bhindi as they tell you of their plan for their ghostly party; one stage for Larkka, another for Assur, or illustrate the start of this quest.

Path 1 – Quest 1:
Hasswei’s idea for his ghostly dance for his beloved was too fun to pass up, you decide, even if the idea of trespassing on Larkka’s grounds makes you feel tense.
Before you can truly enter Larkka’s Realm, Hasswei warns, you and your beast need to make and wear a mask to protect yourself.
“Larkka I trust,” he says to you, “But the dead aren’t always nice. They may try to take your mask – to take you – but never take it off until we are safe. My light will protect you from her shades.”

Depict you and your beast going with Hasswei to join him to Larkka’s Realm, or show them creating the masks that they are to wear for the party, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Path 1 – Quest 2:
With Hasswei by your side and his light protecting you, you and your beast arrive safely to Larkka’s Realm. Dark, twisted, and strangely peaceful – a mirror version of Prehistoria but with Larkka’s person touch.
The spirits here shy from Hasswei’s light and hiss at you both mercilessly, but when Hasswei starts to dance they seem entranced, and mildly concerned.
All it takes if for you and your beast to also join in, before the spirits make a move– Some dance, others try to take advantage of your dancing to snatch the mask you wear, or lull you into a false sense of safety and leave Hasswei’s light.

Depict you and your beast watching Hasswei dance or joining him, or show the spirits dancing and trying to tempt you from his side, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Path 1 – Quest 3:
With the droll of the song and the thumps of dancing echoing through the realm, it doesn’t take long for Larkka to show up and see what is disturbing the peace.
When she appears, Hasswei perks up and the spirits look to be more into dancing than trying to skulk about or lure you away. And as she watches you all dance, you think for a moment something changed in her face. A smile? A snarl?
Whatever it might have been doesn’t seem to make a difference as Larkka is quick to chase you and your beast from the realm, Hasswei in tow to keep you in the safety of his light.

Depict Larkka approaching from the shadows to watch you and your beast dance with Hasswei and the spirits, or being chased out of her realm with her and her ghosts in quick pursuit, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Path 2 – Quest 1:
As you never officially met Bhindi before her demise, you decide to get to know her by helping her with the songs she wants to do for Assur.
Though her words are nothing more than hisses and lisps, through that shroud of twisted shadows you can glimpse her true self consumed by the rage and hatred that had claimed her life.
“Assur was never evil,” the apparition tells you, “She was proud to a fault, but never evil. It breaks my heart to see her in such an angered state… Even if nothing comes of today, I hope she knows that I never truly left her side.”
Before you can cross the threshold onto the War Grounds, however, the apparition stops you and holds out necklaces covered in charmed runes. “To protect you from the maddening emotions of rage and malice.”

Depict you and your beast joining Bhindi to the War Grounds, listening to her wheezing words about herself and Assur or being given the charms to protect yourselves, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Path 2 – Quest 2:
With the charm necklace or bracelet now on, you can feel a cool calmness envelope you like a blanket, or a hug, and you only feel at peace when you make that first step onto the blood-stained sands of the War Grounds.
Red-orange spectrals of the ghosts felled by Assur during her rampage hover around you, whispering their hatred and malice, to coax their anger into you – but the charms deflect that, and you are able to follow Bhindi to the heart.
When she starts to sing, it is mere croaks and shrills, but as you and your beast join in her truer voice slips through, and the angry shades stand to watch in silence.

Depict you and your beast walking through the angered shades of defeated warriors as Bhindi takes you into the War Grounds or show them singing with the warped ghost of Bhindi, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Path 2 – Quest 3:
For the first time in a long time, the War Grounds is full of song rather than the whining and shouting of the damned and angry. And even when they try to sully the mood or infect you and your beast with their anger, the charms hold up against their influence and keep you protected…
But when Assur steps onto the reddened sands with anger and malice bleeding from her eyes, you cannot help but feel fear that the charms would not hold up against her rage.
Assur stares at you, then at the warped and twisted spectre beside you, and cracks her beak together like bones snapping. “You are not her! Liar, deceit!”

Depict Assur listening to you and your beast, and Bhindi, singing while the charms fend off the influence of anger from the spirits, or show her chase you from the War Grounds with the red shades right behind you all, or illustrate this part of the quest.

Epilogue:
As the day is nearing the end, you and your beast meet up with Hasswei and Bhindi at a far more safer location. Tired and worn, yet strangely feeling at peace. You share your tales and both the God and the spectre seem to nod, also feeling at peace.
“They might not have returned to us,” they said, “but just for a moment… It felt like when times were simpler and they were by our sides; happy and whole.”
