The story begins here:
Secrets and stories are often warped and change over time. When it comes to matters of the gods, it is no doubt that there are long-kept secrets about them — stories that have never reached the eyes and ears of mortals. But they say that hidden around Prehistoria are hints to the past — relics of a time long before you came into the world…

Start Quest:
You’ve heard tales about ruins lying in the heart of the whispering forest and decide to check for yourself. After hours of walking among a natural maze of branches and leaves, you finally see what seems to be a tall manmade structure. You take a deep breath and enter. You face a large square room leading to a long hall. At the center of the room rests a vast runed slab made of vibrant marble rocks.

Depict your beast entering the structure, observing the slab and marble rocks, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 1:
Hesitantly, you approach the massive slab. But as you draw near, you feel a front paw sink lower than usual. A hollow groan seems to emanate from the room, sending a shiver down your spine. You hear a whooshing noise from above you and jump out of the way just in time to avoid a falling rock. It hits the ground so hard that it cracks the slab you were standing on just moments earlier. Gradually, more rocks begin to rain from the ceiling; some are small, but some are massive like boulders. As they fall, the floor beneath you becomes more and more damaged. The floor is going to give out!

Depict your beast accidentally activating the trap, avoiding the rocks, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 2:
You turn tail and run out of the room down the hall. But you slide to a stop as suddenly, the hallway splits into two paths. Which way is correct? With no time to lose, you sprint down the tunnel on your left. Adrenaline is pumping through your veins, the only thing going through your mind being escape. Suddenly, a massive form looms in front of you. It is clearly real, but clearly not a normal mortal being like yourself — it appears to be a guardian of this place. It opens its mouth to reveal several rows of sharp, pointy teeth. It appears as if it accidentally grew too many teeth, as they stick out in different directions. It stares down at you, making a low rumbling sound.

Depict your beast running down the wrong hallway, being confronted by the guardian creature, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 3:
You feel as if the fur might fly off your back as you sprint away from the horrifying guardian. Fear courses through your body and makes you wonder if you can even run fast enough to escape. It feels like you’ve been running forever, but finally, you return to the junction where you originally split off on the left path. You tear down the right hallway instead. After another minute of sprinting, you finally burst out into the forest. Silence weighs heavily now that you can no longer hear the guardian. All you can hear is your own fast breath and a vague hint of whispers on the wind.

Depict your beast running away from the guardian, escaping back into the forest, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 1:
The massive slab sits before you in the center of the room, as if commanding attention. But after looking at it for a few moments, something else catches your eye. You approach the far wall, stepping carefully over an odd-looking slab on the floor. While the huge central slab was glorious, it clearly wasn’t all this place had to offer. As you get closer to the wall, you can see writing on the wall.

Depict your beast observing the central slab, noticing the writing on the wall, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 2:
You are finally able to read the words carved into the wall once you get close. Squinting in the dim light, you realize that this is a story — a story of the gods. You begin to read:
“And so it came to pass that Larkka, Goddess of Death and Void, and [redacted] rose up against Mamota. Larkka planned to trap Mamota in the forest so the mortals would forget him in time. Larkka and [redacted] succeeded in their plan. And so Mamota was trapped in the Whispering Forest. He became the land and the earth, the wind and the whispers in the breeze. Mamota became the Whispering Forest. Occasionally he gives a small whisper to those who travel through his domain.”

Depict your beast reading the inscription on the wall, reacting to the text, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 3:
As you read, you begin to have a sinking feeling in your chest. The feeling grows increasingly stronger; aside from the story you just read, it almost feels like something is watching you, observing you. Worry flashes through you — what if something bad happens? What if there is something guarding this place? You turn around and slink out of the room before anything bad can happen. Now outside again, you stand silently, wondering if you can hear Mamota’s voice in the wind.

Depict your beast leaving the text behind, exiting back out to the forest, or illustrate this part of the story.
