The story begins here:
During their endless quest for discoveries, a group of adventurers found something: a huge piece of a tablet covered with inscriptions. But it seems to be broken in multiple pieces. Upon closer inspection, the explorers notice that the tablet appears to have been carved from a reddish-colored rock — a color which is found only in the Nukkik War Grounds…

Start Quest:
You arrive at the Nukkik War Grounds. You tread over the strange red soil, which almost seems permanently stained by the long history of bloodshed that hangs over this land. As you turn your attention to the setting sun, it feels different. Instead of a warm, soothing glow, the sky looks as if it were drenched in blood. It seems to ooze like an injury from the blood-red sun, which slowly sinks below the horizon like an injured falling beast. A bad omen, perhaps?

Depict your beast entering the Nukkik War Grounds or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 1:
As you make your way through the Nukkik War Grounds, you see the shape of a man and his equus in the distance. Cautious but curious, you approach. At his camp at the edge of the Grounds, he sits on the ground, fixated on something in his hands while his equus stands guard. When he notices you, he beckons you over and you see what he is holding: a broken piece of the Tablet. He explains that he is trying to figure out what this all means and asks if you can help. From what he can decipher, this piece is talking about Assur, the Goddess of Honor and Courage.

Depict your beast meeting Esger and Atyae, inspecting the Tablet piece, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 2:
You sit with Esger and Atyae inspect the Tablet piece more, but as time passses, Esger seems to be growing nervous. He explains that his other companions, Ura and Thiri, left a while ago to search for more Tablet fragments and still have not made it back. He worries something may have happened to them. You decide to go together and search for his companions. Finally, you hear commotion, and come to find Esger’s companions — and they are being attacked! A group of beasts and men surround the human and equus, outnumbering the two.

Depict your beast searching with Esger, finding the companions, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 3:
Now that you have arrived, your side has strength in numbers. You chase off the aggressors easily. But this attack does not seem to have dampened the mood, as Ura excitedly ushers Esger and you to come see. Before the attackers came, she was about to unearth something: a Tablet fragment! With some effort, you unearth the piece and find that the Tablet is now complete. You race back to camp to put the pieces together and decipher the complete inscription.
But as you do, the excitement of this discovery falters and fear creeps in its wake. Something is very wrong.

Depict your beast unearthing the second tablet piece, deciphering the two pieces, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 1:
Upon entering the Grounds, the first person you meet is a lone human who seems obsessed with the idea of bringing Assur back to restore peace and balance. Their intentions do not seem bad, so you decide to help this strange, mumbling person. They explain that the world used to be so much different, but now things are broken and not as they should be. They desperately want to fix it, but they need your help. They are just human, and only a beast can activate the “forsaken essence”: a strange substance that can only be found in the heart of Maukai. It is not easy to reach, but fixing the whole world certainly isn’t easy, right?

Depict your beast meeting up with this person, listening to their story, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 2:
The journey to Maukai is a long and arduous one. But eventually, you return with the essence. Upon seeing your return, the person thanks you for bringing the essence and explains that they now need an offering to the gods: an offering of prey would please them, perhaps. They ask you to find a suitable offering — but hurry, there’s no time to lose! Thankfully, the land is teeming with prey, so it does not take you long to find something. You hope that the gods will find your offering suitable.

Depict your beast returning the essence to the person, retrieving an offering, or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 3:
You return with your offering, which the person gladly takes from you. Finally, they have one last request: for you to meet them at the heart of the Nukkik War Grounds. You make your way over the strange red land. Is this ground truly stained by blood, or is that just a legend? Finally, you make it to the heart of the Grounds. You had expected to meet your new acquaintance there alone, but they are far from alone. He is joined by a group of cloaked figures, the dark coverings obscuring their faces. They are gathered around and chanting an ominous tone. Despite the cloaks darkening their faces, you can still feel their gazes on you, so you feel forced to join in as they stare expectantly at you. But as you join, a voice rings in the back of your head: What have you done?

Depict your beast meeting the cloaked people at the heart of the Nukkik War Grounds or illustrate this part of the story.
