The story begins here
One day, when your steps have led you to the Amaguq desert, you are surprised to see the recognizable silhouettes of a mammoth Memory walking in the distance. At first glance, it looked like it was a small herd, made up of a handful of individuals with no calves in sight.
Although this is a cold desert, far less hot than the savannahs of Hasswei’s Retreat, it wasn’t often that mammoths dared to venture into these places that only the Nogon Tribe found hospitable.
Intrigued, you decide to approach, careful not to startle the great mammoths and provoke their fear or anger. If at first they seemed wary of your presence, your greetings and peaceful attitude manage to relax some of them.

Start Quest
As you get closer to the Memory, you observe how young the members of this Memory are. Even their Matriarch was quite young for this role.
Eventually, the latter approaches. “Excuse me, but I think we’re a bit turned around. Can you help us find the Star Stones? I don’t think we’re that far off, really.”
The Star Stones?!
You sit down in pure surprise and confusion. This was the other end of the continent, the very opposite of it! “And h-how did you find your way here?” You ask.
“Oh! By following the North star, see?” Answered the Matriarch, pointing the sun with her trunk
You’re almost rendered speechless, but found the strength to ask again “…And what do you do when this ‘North Star’ disappears?”
“We move away from the South Star, obviously”
“…The moon????”
How, in the name of Arwii, could such a situation like this happened…?! Who taught this Matriarch to orient herself ?
Taking pity on this very lost Memory, you immediatly volunteer to guide them to the Star Stones.

Depict your Beast talking with the Memory, volunteering to guide them or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 1
After a quick scan of the surroundings, you decide on a course of action and guide the Memory across the rocky terrain of the Amaguq desert. As you walk, you see the surrounding area becoming rich and green again, which immediately reassures the mammoths. You guide your protégés to the Stern Stream, instructing them to follow its course and banks until the Donii Lake comes into view.
During the break the group takes, you teach the Matriarch and other mammoths to remember certain details so they can find their way around next time, and mention the next step to take: The Arwii Caves.

Depict your Beast leaving the Amaguq Desert with the Memory, or reaching the Donii Lake or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 2
Fresh from a full day of rest on the shores of the Donii Lake, yourself and the Memory set off again.
Fortunately, the terrain was very comfortable walking on, and the Arwii Caves came into view after a handful of days of energetic walking. The Matriarch also seemed to remember that she and her herd had passed through these parts, which delighted you.
After a break not far from the Caves, you resume your role as guide and this time your steps begin the ascent of the Imdir Spine. But you have a very specific destination in mind: the Tanunga Hot Springs.
And its path, marked by thousands of paws, feet and hooves, was easy to navigate on.

Depict your Beast guiding the Memory towards the Arwii Caves, or start the ascension of the Imdir’s Spine or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 1 – Quest 3
The Memory was particularly delighted to take a well-deserved break at the Tanunga Hot Springs after such a tough and tricky climb. For a handful of days, everyone was able to rest their aching limbs in the warm and invigorating waters of the Springs.
Then it was back to the road, and back to your role as guide. After the ascent, came the descent, not as rough as the ascent but just as tricky.
The sight of the Shimmering Waters, territory of the God Hathar, was greeted by the joyful trumpets of the mammoths who came to quench their thirst in its cool, pure waters. After a time of rest, you guide the Matriarch and her herd toward the Northern Run river.
They just need to follow its banks and they’ll reach the Star Stones in no time.

Depict your Beast taking a break at the Tanunga Hot Springs, or guiding the Memory toward the Northern Run or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 1
First, you take the time to orient yourself in the desert before beckoning the Matriarch and her herd to follow you to the Inua Lake. You don’t know how long the Memory had been walking in the desert, so finding water was top priority.
You’re hoping that the lake was not yet completely dry and could provide water for the behemoths. While playing your role as guide, you show the Matriarch and her mammoths the many paths of the Nogon Tribe that had left their mark on the surrounding landscape. This will provide visual clues for their next journey.

Depict your Beast crossing the Amaguq desert, or arriving at the Inua Lake or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 2
Once you’ve reached the lake, you’re relieved to see that it hasn’t yet dried up completely, so everyone can drink their fill. You gave yourselves and the Memory a full day’s rest, during which you explained the next step to your protégés : crossing the Imdir Spine.
The southern part of the Spines was tricky and sometimes dangerous to cross. Especially as this was where the fierce members of the Tamasun Tribe lived and they didn’t like trespassers.
Nevertheless, you’re quite optimistic about the way ahead and think you have a safe path for everyone in mind.

Depict your Beast arriving at the lake with the mammoth, or guiding them through the Imdir’s Spine or illustrate this part of the story.

Path 2 – Quest 3
The crossing of the Imdir Spine was long and tricky, but without incident fortunately. You and the Matriarch had chosen to travel slowly so that no one would be needlessly injured. As a result, it was a relief for everyone when they reached the Savages Steppes.
You guide the Memory to the Tomb of Ra’ad, the Refound Deity, and take time to breathe while paying homage. In the distance, you could see the colorful tundras of the Hunting Grounds, the next destination.
It didn’t take long for you and your protégés to reach the Huxlu River, and hints of the Goddess Umbru’s presence made the Memory very happy. They were close to their goal !
All that remained now was to travel even further north, reaching the Northern Run River and following its course to the final destination : the Star Stones.

Depict your Beast making a stop at Ra’d’s Tomb, or arriving at the Huxlu’s River or illustrate this part of the story.

Epilogue:
It was a very long and arduous journey, but soon you and the Memory reached the Star Stones.
As you celebrate with everyone, you recall all moments of this unique adventure. During this long time spent guiding these mammoths, you really saw a team spirit develop between all its members and the young Matriarch made real efforts to guide her Memory. She was attentive to its needs, just as she was learning to spot those visual signs, clues and specific smells that would help her on her next journeys.
Everyone learned a lot during this travel…yourself included.
