Scruff
Scruff is a marking that adds a patch of lighter or darker color on the beasts’ neck.
If the whole area of the neck (and therefore the possible range of Scruff) is covered with other markings, it is allowed to not show Scruff on the design.
Contrary to Nimbus, Scruff may be used on Equus manes (or similar manes added through physical mutations) alone and do not have to show anywhere else on the neck!
The color of it can be pure white (HEX: #FFFFFF, RGB: rgb(255,255,255)) but slightly off-white colors are okay too as long as it is still recognizable as white, looks natural and is not overly yellow or blue.

Colors
Scruff is relevant to the design and will always be lighter or darker than the picked reference color.
Alternatively, Scruff may be white as well, no matter the base coat color. This includes using pure white (HEX: #FFFFFF, RGB: rgb(255,255,255)) as well as slightly off-white colors as long as they are still recognizable as white, look natural and are not overly yellow or blue.
Feel free to use the following swatch one if you feel uncomfortable picking your own colors!
Please open the sta.sh link by clicking on the swatch and save the image, as taking colors from screenshots or copy-pasted versions might influence the colors. This often leads us to not being able to find the corresponding color on the swatch, and we have to send your design to corrections!
If the design has Free White and it was chosen as a relevant color for Scruff, Scruff may only have grayscale colors. It cannot be used to add entirely different colors to your beast (e.g. blue-ish white color on a beast with Earth coat color)!
Edges
Scruff must have a hard edge.
Design Notes
Scruff on Equus
Unlike Nimbus, Scruff may only cover the mane of the Equus, the marking does not have to show anywhere else on the neck!
The same rule applies for other, similar mane mutations such as the Razor mutation for Megaloceros.

However, be careful of old designs as they might be illegal by now due to previous rule changes!
Please do not just copy existing designs either, as those are the property of their designer!
