Shield
Shield is a marking that adds hard-edged, darker colored and v- or u-shaped stripes on the beasts’ body. While the outside edge of the v- / u-shaped stripes must be hard-edged, the inside may be soft-edged as well!
The shape of this stripe must be like a V or U, as the original idea behind this marking is to add a dark colored rim to the edge of the feathers. However, since our imports do not show every single feather Terror Birds have we decided to keep the marking simple and indipendant from the actual feathers.
Additionally, there is the option of adding a lighter colored, soft-edged so called inner filling comparable to the inner shading of Clouded Leopard. This filling should stay within the v- / u-shaped stripe.
This marking was inspired by the singled laced coloration found on chickens and other birds, feel free to take them as inspiration if you have troubles designing your beast!

Colors

The v- / u-shaped stripe is relevant to and will always be darker than the base coat color of the beast.
Inner filling
The inner filling is relevant to and will always be lighter than the base coat color of the beast.

V- / u-shaped stripe
The outside of the v- / u-shaped stripe must have a hard edge while the inside must have a hard or soft edge.
Inner filling
The inner filling must have a soft edge.

Example 1 – Both inner and outer part of the outer line are hard-edged

Shield has no distinct minimum range, but must be present in a noticeable way and cover at least 30% of the beast.
